Ian Kennedy open to multiyear extension with Arizona

Ian Kennedy has now been with the Arizona Diamondbacks for two seasons since being traded there from the New York Yankees in a three-team deal that found Curtis Granderson moving to the Bronx from the Detroit Tigers. Since then, Kennedy has gone 30-14 with a 3.31 ERA. He went 21-4 with a 2.88 ERA last year and found himself finishing fourth in the National League Cy Young Award voting.

Now the 27-year-old who will be eligible for arbitration at season's end is saying that he is open to signing a multiyear extension with the team, MLB.com reports. "Obviously I would entertain hearing it," he said, according to the site. "I think anybody would."

Kennedy also noted that he isn't aware of his agent, Scott Boras, having any extension talks with the team as of yet.
