Lakers and Knicks want Rockets’ Jonny Flynn

Houston Rockets point guard Jonny Flynn is only 23 years old, but he is a wanted man. The word from ESPN is that both the New York Knicks and Los Angeles Lakers have asked the Rockets about trading for him.

Flynn, who was picked sixth overall by the Minnesota Timberwolves in the 2009 draft, was traded during last summer's draft to the Rockets along with Donatas Motiejunas for Brad Miller and the No. 23 and 38 picks along with a future first-round pick.

In the seven games he's played for Houston, he's averaged 3.1 points, 2.4 assists and 1.1 rebounds per game. In his rookie season, Flynn averaged 13.4 points, 4.4 assists and 2.4 rebounds per game.

Flynn's attributes: quickness and a good smile
Flynn's weaknesses: defense, jump shot, passing, basketball IQ

Unfortunately Rambis ruined this guy. He seems like a good guy so I'd love to see him get another chance, but some of you are way overboard on the Flynn love.

Trade him and give him a chance to play, but there's no way anyone is going to trade what the Rockets traded to get him.

They need to hurry and get somebody before they get to far behind.

They get what they deserve! Nothing! Kupcake has ruined this team.
All they have is Bynum, Kobe legs are gone. He can't jump, only takes
      jump shots. Go Clippers!

Gee,how many NBA championships do the Clippers have? Like none.

      LOL @ James Price:

"He can't jump, only takes jump shots." nice contradiction there, James.

I think either Walton, Morris or Ebanks is good for Flynn.
    • James Price 3 months ago
Are u on drugs!? Morris sucks, Walton is a retard, and E-banks iffy.

um no... Flynn was 6th overall i believe, Theres no1 the rockets would want other then Pau and if that happens then it would be pau and artest for flynn, budinger, and scola.

That wouldn't be that bad for the lakers actually. ^

I don't watch the Rockets that much, but I don't quite understand why Flynn isn't on the floor more often? I could see a Flynn for Walton or Ebanks trade.

are u on drugs!? Walton is a d-league player at best!

Lakers dump him to Hou and pay the rest of his salary, Rockets eventually release him and fulfill the open bench spot with a legit backup center, and the Lakers get a decent, young PG.

He's not on the floor because Lowry and Dragic are better.

I think the Lakers should hold tight and try to sign D. Williams in the off-season.

What about now,the Laker's can get both of them,as long as the commish doesnt
      block the trade.

I think they should trade for Him and get it over with

Any point guard with quickness, penetration ability, good range jump shot, 5 assists average, and good defense, Lakers should go for him.

if they get him give us someone good please...

Walton is the one, you need. Three times NBA champion, with lots of experience from the top franchise in this sport. If the deal goes through, I will personally bring him to Houston as a compliment.

Knowing D. Morey he will probably just give him to the Lakers for nothing

Lakers should go after Devin Harris before Johnny Flynn.
  • Rick K  •  Iola, Kansas  •  3 months ago
please please please trade luke walton for any half #$%$ decent point guard. he has wasted enough space on the bench for far to long. p.s. take your father with you .

Add the Clippers now to this list.

Flynn is a good player. He wasn't doing well for the wolves because the triangle offense wasn't his style of offense. good luck to flynn.

let's stop crying about point gaurd, just give Bynum more touches down low and get Paul Gasol to remember he is not Dirk and get down low and take his mostly under sized players gaurding him to the hole! Lastly play some hard knock you to your @#S Defense and get a reputation for no free lay up and things would change over night!

I always hate to see guys like D. George L Walton and the list goes on leave LA it seems to come back and haunt them every time. Kobe is not getting any younger do the Lakers build around him or start looking farther ahead and try to build around Bynum? What ever they do I sure hope they dont pull another L Odom deal that one truly killed the Lakers .And we all know they can not afford another stupid move like that. That being said GO LAKERS

LMAO @ some of the comments. The Rockets would never trade Flynn for garbage #$%$ Walton and Ebanks. Did you not just read what the Rockets gave up to get Flynn?
  • Whity  •  Los Angeles, California  •  3 months ago
This would be huge for either teams because both there backcourts suck!

The fact that the Houston fans want the Lakers to take Flynn off their hands says a lot. The Lakers should not panic because Blake will be back soon and the 2 rooks can play some minutes and that will allow DFish to rest. Quick guards are ripping the Lakers but they have always ripped the Lakers as well as the league. As for improving our pg position Devin Harris and Derrick Williams may be available later or during off season.

What the Lakers need is more speed at the 3 and 4 positions. Outside of Barnes our forwards are getting ripped up and down the court. Speed wise on offence and defense Bynum and Gasol hustle but are slow, World, Kobe and Fish are average at best, Harris can run but he never gets off the bench,
Luke and McRoberts are average, and Murphy is the slowest running and must have the slowest feet in the NBA. The rookie guards can run but need a real coach to teach them.

Also, if Kobe could show some discipline on offense and man-to-man defense the Lakers would be more consistent. On defense Kobe almost always “floats” leaving his man open so others have to leave their man. On offense Kobe is holding the ball more and more and rushing shots instead of passing and cutting and having everyone involved.

You can see the body language of the team when it’s “Kobe time” on offense how they stop switching on defense when Kobe floats 20 feet away from his man. Maybe Coach Brown will show some guts and get Kobe to listen to him. He failed in Cleveland with LeBron and he’s coaching the same here in LA.
