Zlatan Ibrahimovic surprised Thai soccer team rescued from cave on 'Ellen'
Ellen DeGeneres hosted all 12 members and the coach of the “Wild Boars” soccer team — the Thai soccer team that was rescued from a flooded cave earlier this year — on her show on Monday, the team’s first studio appearance since the incident.
The team spoke about their time trapped in the cave, what they did to survive and how they stayed calm throughout the 18-day ordeal in the cave in Chiang Rai, Northern Thailand, this summer.
Eventually they started talking about soccer, and the team quickly revealed that LA Galaxy star Zlatan Ibrahimovic was their idol.
So, of course, DeGeneres called Ibrahimovic out to surprise the team — which left most of them speechless.

Ibrahimovic — who signed a two-year, $3 million contract with the Galaxy in March — gave the team LA Galaxy merchandise and invited them to go to a special training session with the Galaxy while they are in Los Angeles. DeGeneres also gave them all tickets to go attend a game, and even outfitted the whole team with her custom Ellen soccer jerseys.
“I thought I was brave, but these kids, this team are braver than me,” Ibrahimovic said. “They showed their collective teamwork, patience, faith and believing in other hands also.
“This is probably the best team in the world.”
