Zionsville girls basketball coach Andy Maguire resigns: 'I have been blessed...'

Andy Maguire has resigned as Zionsville girls basketball coach, the school announced Tuesday.

Maguire, who will coach the 2024 Indiana All-Stars in their annual series against Kentucky, led the Eagles to a 2018 Class 4A state runner-up finish.

He coached Laila Hull, the 2023 IndyStar Miss Basketball, and three other Indiana All-Stars.

"There are too many people to name, but I truly appreciate all the positive relationships that I have developed over the years," Maguire said in a statement released by the school. "I have been blessed with outstanding student-athletes, great assistant coaches, supportive parents, and a tremendous athletic department."

Now in his second stint as Zionsville coach, Maguire led the Eagles from 1999-2006, then returned to the role prior to the 2010-11 season. He is 189-133 over the past 14 seasons with four sectional titles and a Class 4A state runner-up finish in 2018.

The Eagles, whose 2016 sectional title was their first in two decades (improved from 4-16 to 20-4), finished 16-7 last season, marking their fourth consecutive winning season and eighth in nine years.

"His unparalleled dedication and unwavering commitment to girls basketball has enabled our program to achieve much success over the years, and he provided a first-class experience to those who were fortunate enough to be a part of our program," Zionsville athletic director Greg Schellhase said in the statement.
