Zion Williamson and the Pelicans put the NBA on notice with dominant win over Nets I The Rush

The Brooklyn Nets’ offseason struggles continued in the regular season as they were run off the court by the New Orleans Pelicans, whose Big Three of Zion Williamson, Brandon Ingram and CJ McCollum put the league on notice. In baseball, the Houston Astros took care of the New York Yankees in Game 1 of the ALCS while the San Diego Padres went on an offensive tear in Game 2 of the NLCS to pull even with the Philadelphia Phillies. Quarterback Dak Prescott has been cleared to practice after a quick comeback from a thumb injury while a group of college wrestlers will face a longer road to recovery after being mauled by a Grizzly Bear in the Wyoming wilderness.

[WHOOSH]

JARED QUAY: After a drama-filled offseason, the Brooklyn Nets finally hit the hardwood and put all the remaining doubt to rest. Just kidding. They got smoked by the Pelicans.

- Gonna be Patty Mills who tried to sneak in, a la Jose. Extra pass. Devonte got him out of position. Great decision! The hammer, Zion.

JARED QUAY: Fans in Barclays Center were real quiet as the Nets big three of Durant, Kyrie, and Simmons felt disjointed. While New Orleans big three of Zion, Ingram, and McCollum gelled perfectly in a 22-point Pelicans win.

New York baseball fans didn't fare any better.

- Pena lifts one--

- Oh.

- --in the air, deep left field. And Jeremy Pena sends one out of here.

JARED QUAY: The Astros struck first, beating the Yankees in game 1 of the ALCS, a.k.a., the series where most of America wants no one to win.

- If only.

JARED QUAY: Over in the NLCS, the Padres had no offense against the Phillies in game 1. But boy oh boy, did they find it in game 2.

- There goes Kim. And a base hit to right center.

JARED QUAY: That's Austin Nola doing damage at the plate against his younger brother-- pitcher Aaron-- in the process of San Diego scoring 8 unanswered runs to win game 2 and even up the series before going to Philadelphia for game 3.

Cooper Rush did a valiant job filling in as the Cowboys starting quarterback. But it looks like Cooper's headed back to the bench because Dak is back, baby. It's a catchphrase. After breaking his thumb in Dallas this season opener, franchise quarterback Dak Prescott has been medically cleared to fully participate in practice ahead of Sunday's game against Detroit. And that's a pretty quick recovery, all things considered.

Something that takes a bit longer to come back from, a bear attack.

[BEAR GROWLING]

No, seriously. College wrestling teammates were out in the Wyoming wilderness looking for antlers.

- That's a thing?

JARED QUAY: Apparently so. But what the friends found was a lot scarier than some shed antlers when they were attacked by one angry grizzly bear.

- He kind of tackled me and chewed me up a little bit. [INHALES LOUDLY]

JARED QUAY: Dude got chewed up a little bit. Wow. But that wasn't all. The bear left and came back for round two, putting Kendell Cummings' head in his mouth and shook him around.

- It was a big bear. It looked scary. Mean.

- Teeth.

- Teeth, drooling, breath stank.

JARED QUAY: These guys are legends. Yo, they should automatically win the state wrestling championship after this, right? I mean, if you wrestle a grizzly bear and live to tell the tale, you should get a participation trophy that nobody can be mad at. 'Cause you just got beat by a grizzly bear, and you still here.
