Zion Williamson drops jaws, wins dunk contest ahead of McDonald's All-American game

Duke fans are surely still reeling after Malik Newman ran roughshod and ripped their hearts out on Sunday to send Kansas past the Blue Devils to the Final Four.

But Monday gave them reason to smile just a little.

Zion Williamson, a jewel in Duke’s much-heralded 2018 recruiting class, lived up to his reputation and put on a show to win the PowerAde Jam Fest dunk contest preceding this week’s McDonald’s All-American game.

There’s debate over who Duke’s top incoming freshman is, but there’s no doubt about who has the most hype, and Williamson showed why in Atlanta.

Here are some highlights, in case you missed the show.

We’ll start with Williamson tossing the ball in the air before dropping a powerful baseline 360.

If that doesn’t impress you, how about Williamson, left-handed, dropping the ball to his hip and bringing it back up for a windmill jam — with his off hand?

When in Atlanta, it’s proper to show tribute to Dominique Wilkins.

This off-the-backboard, through-the-legs slam really got the crowd going.

Only time will tell whether Duke can put together its squad of elite freshmen for a Final Four run next year. But as long as Williamson is suiting up, there’s not doubt things will be entertaining in Durham.
