The Cincinnati Bengals have a new running back.

The Bengals recently signed former Indianapolis Colts running back Zack Moss to a two-year, $8 million deal, according to multiple reports Monday night.

The announcement came amid the Bengals' decision to release veteran RB Joe Mixon, The Enquirer's Kelsey Conway reports.

Who is Zack Moss?

The Buffalo Bills selected Moss, the Bengals' new running back, in the third round of the 2020 NFL draft. He played in 31 games for the Bills from 2020 to 2022.

The Bills traded Moss to the Colts in November 2022. He started eight games for Indy last season instead of starting RB Jonathan Taylor, who sat out the first part of the year due to a contract standoff and trade request.

During training camp last summer, Moss broke his arm and had surgery the following day. After missing the season opener, Moss hit the field for the Colts' 31-20 win over the Houston Texans in Week 2. During the Sept. 17 game, Moss rushed for 88 yards on 18 attempts and scored a touchdown.

He played an important role in the Colts' offense during the 2023 season, becoming the team's leading rusher. Moss had 794 rushing yards and five rushing touchdowns in 14 games last season for Indianapolis, along with 27 catches for 192 yards and two receiving TDs. The back averaged 4.3 yards per carry.

His best game came in Week 5 against the Tennessee Titans, when he rushed for 165 yards and two touchdowns on 23 attempts.

Moss played college football at the University of Utah from 2016 to 2019, appearing in 45 games, 36 of which he started. At Utah, he tallied 712 carries for 4,067 yards and 38 touchdowns. He also had 66 receptions for 685 yards and three touchdowns.

According to the Indianapolis Colts website, Moss became the first player in school history to have three 1,000-yard rushing seasons. He also set school records in carries, rushing yards, rushing touchdowns, total touchdowns and 100-yard rushing games.
