If you're dreaming of playing pro soccer, you can try out for Rhode Island FC in November

Dreaming of playing professional soccer?

On Saturday, Nov. 11, you can take the first step to making that happen when Rhode Island FC, the Ocean State’s new men’s soccer club, will hold open tryouts.

Tryouts will take place at Providence Country Day School, 660 Waterman Ave., East Providence. The open tryouts will provide an opportunity for regional talent and aspiring professional players to catch the eye of RIFC’s coaching staff and potentially secure an invitation to Rhode Island FC’s Player Identification Combine later this year.

“When I began my role as head coach, one of my top priorities was staying true to our club’s commitment in being a team for all of Rhode Island. I can think of no better way to fulfill that promise than by providing an opportunity for local talent to showcase their skills through an open tryout in state,” said Rhode Island FC head coach and general manager Khano Smith. “The team we put on the pitch will be a team we can all be proud of and it will reflect the character of our community.”

Khano Smith, in action for the New England Revolution in 2007, is now the head coach and general manager of Rhode Island FC, which will hold open tryouts in November.
