Who is the youngest QB to start a Super Bowl? Brock Purdy to become third-youngest to do so

Former Iowa State quarterback Brock Purdy continues to make headlines with the San Francisco 49ers.

Almost two years removed from being selected as Mr. Irrelevant in the seventh round of the 2022 NFL Draft, Purdy is set to become the third-youngest quarterback in NFL history to start a Super Bowl next Sunday, Feb. 11 against the Kansas City Chiefs at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas.

Only former Steelers QB Ben Roethlisberger and Hall of Famer and former Miami Dolphin quarterback Dan Marino have started the Super Bowl at a younger age.

Purdy, who will be 24 years, one month and 15 days old at the start of the Super Bowl, is also the youngest 49ers starting quarterback to appear in a Super Bowl, passing the likes of Colin Kaepernick, Jimmy Garoppolo, and Hall of Famers Joe Montana and Steve Young.

"What an honor, first of all," Purdy said on NBC Sports Bay Area's Postgame Show following Sunday's NFC Championship win over the Detroit Lions Sunday on the feat. "I've got a squad around me, man. We have such a good team. Everybody does their job really well here and all I have to do is come in and do my job.

"It's a special place to be and all I have to do is be a little point guard and distribute it to the guys that are open and find ways to win."

This feat belongs to Marino who led the Dolphins to Super Bowl XIX at 23 years and 127 days old. Marino went 29 of 50 passing for 318 yards with one touchdown and two interceptions in the Dolphins' 38-16 loss to Montana and the 49ers. It would be the only time Marino would appear in the Super Bowl in his illustrious career.
