YaYa Diaby supplants Joe Tryon-Shoyinka as a starter in Tampa Bay

The Buccaneers have placed a recent first-round pick on the bench.

Via JoeBucsFan.com, coach Todd Bowles said Tuesday night on the Buccaneers Radio Network that third-round rookie YaYa Diaby has supplanted 2021 first-rounder Joe Tryon-Shoyinka in the starting lineup.

Diaby, who has four sacks this season, made his first start on Sunday against the Colts at the edge rusher position.

“They’ll all play," Bowles said. "At the same time, they gotta be ready to play, but YaYa will be our starter."

Tryon-Shoyinka also has four sacks this season. He has 12 in his three-year career.

The move doesn't bode well for the Bucs picking up Tryon-Shoyinka's fifth-year option. A decision is due by early May.

The 4-7 Buccaneers host the 1-10 Panthers on Sunday.
