Yankees and Red Sox game rained out Monday night, doubleheader set for Tuesday

Due to a continued forecast of rain, Monday night's Yankees-Red Sox game at Boston's Fenway Park was postponed, roughly 75 minutes after the scheduled 7:10 start time.

Monday's game will be made up as part of a day-night doubleheader Tuesday at Fenway.

The first game is due to start at 1:35 p.m., prior to Tuesday night's regularly scheduled 7:10 p.m. game.

Monday was to be the opener of a four-game series, the final meeting this season between the traditional rivals, though this year's Bronx-Boston battle is about avoiding a last place finish in the AL East.

And it's been a completely one-sided rivalry this season, as the fourth-place Red Sox (73-70) have defeated the Yankees (71-72) eight times in nine meetings so far.

Yankees right-hander Clarke Schmidt was scheduled to oppose Boston right-hander Kutter Crawford on Monday, with lefty Carlos Rodon going for the visitors Tuesday night against right-hander Nick Pivetta.
