Yankees' Aaron Judge expected to return to lineup later this week

Aaron Judge should be back in the lineup for the Yankees later this week.

Manager Aaron Boone said during the YES broadcast on Monday that Judge has been working behind the scenes and "should" return to the lineup on Wednesday.

The former AL MVP was "penciled in" to start in center field on Saturday against the Toronto Blue Jays but was held out.

On Monday, Judge shagged fly balls but didn't take batting practice -- he was listed on the schedule, but did not hit.

Boone said late last week that Judge had "plenty of runway" to be ready for Opening Day.

“He’s fine,” Boone said. “The testing they did showed nothing.”

Judge, who received treatment last Wednesday, was pulled after two at-bats last Sunday and hasn't played (or hit against live pitching) since.

Boone said last week that the outfielder was “mid-spring beat-up,” but Judge’s ailment was concerning enough for the Yankees outfielder to get testing to clear him.

In 14 at-bats this spring, Judge is hitting .143 with a .464 OPS.
