Worcester edges South Kortright, Franklin tops Gilboa/WAJ

Dec. 4—The Worcester girls basketball team outlasted South Kortright 37-29 in a low-scoring non-league matchup in South Kortright Monday.

Hailey Shalor paced the Wolverines with 16 points while Faith Meiser and Angel Mravlja each scored five.

Addy Eckert led South Kortright with 11 points and Carlee Dropp followed with 10 of her own.

Worcester will visit Sharon Springs Thursday while South Kortright will be at Gilboa/WAJ Friday.

Franklin 53, Gilboa/Windham-Ashland-Jewett 32

Franklin defeated Gilboa/Windham-Ashland-Jewett 53-32 Monday thanks to a 19-0 fourth quarter.

Shannon Kingsbury led the way for the Purple Devils with 30 points in the win. Maddie Hyzer and Riley McNamara each scored six points.

Hannah Tuttle had 14 points while Ashtyn Hansen added 10 in the loss for Gilboa/WAJ.

Franklin will host Schenevus Thursday.

Sharon Springs 31, Wells 20

The Sharon Springs girls took down Wells 31-20 at home Monday.

Jayna Manko led the scoring with 15 points, Lilly Tessier had seven rebounds and five steals and Peyton Fassett had eight rebounds and six steals.

Sharon Springs will host Middleburgh Tuesday.

Stamford/Jefferson 44, Schenevus 43 (Saturday)

Stamford/Jefferson edged Schenevus 44-43 Saturday to win the Schenevus Booster Club Tournament.

Tourney MVP McKenna Hoyt had 20 points and 20 rebounds in the win for S/J while Tierney Turner finished with 16 points. Abigail Villanueva was named to the all-tournament team.

For Schenevus, Amber Burton had 11 points while Autumn Burton and Cady Ritton each scored 10. Amber Burton was an all-tournament pick while Ritton added 14 rebounds.

Vestal 64, Oneonta 31 (Saturday)

The Oneonta girls fell to Vestal 64-31 in the final of the Anthony Drago Tournament Saturday.

Selene Wellman led the Yellowjackets with 12 points while also grabbing four steals, Hayden LeFever finished with eight points and eight rebounds and Natalie VanZandt had nine rebounds.

Oneonta will be at Whitney Point Friday.

Greenwich 50, Delhi 27 (Saturday)

Delhi fell to Greenwich 50-27 Saturday in the Dick Alwine Tournament championship game.

The Bulldogs got off to a slow start and were unable to recover from a 27-9 first-half deficit.

Natalie Vredenburgh had 14 points in the loss while Tyler Abts scored seven.

Brooke Kuzmich had a game-high 20 points for Greenwich.

Delhi falls to 1-1 and will visit Unadilla Valley Wednesday.

Edmeston/Morris 47, Bainbridge-Guilford 37 (Saturday)

Edmeston/Morris defeated Bainbridge-Guilford 47-37 to win the Pat Grasso Tournament in Laurens Saturday.

Molly Rifanburg led E/M with 26 points while Brenna Bolton added 12 points in the win.

Peyton Henderson led B-G with 11 points in the loss.

E/M improves to 3-0 and will take on Fort Plain at Canajoharie Monday while B-G will host Deposit-Hancock Tuesday.

Laurens/Milford 36, South Kortright 28 (Saturday)

Laurens/Milford defeated South Kortright 36-28 Saturday in the consolation game of the Pat Grasso Tournament in Laurens.

Kyrah Andrades finished with 14 points to lead L/M while Delaney Maison and Brooke Mann had 12 and 10 points, respectively. Lexi Stuphin added 10 rebounds.

South Kortright's Addy Eckert and Madysen Reeves each finished with seven points.

Laurens/Milford will host Margaretville Tuesday.

Greenwich 74, Cooperstown 38 (Friday)

Cooperstown fell to Greenwich 74-38 Friday at the Dick Alwine Tournament in Delhi.

Rory Nelen and Mia Kaltenbach each scored 10 points for the Hawkeyes.

Brooke Kuzmich scored a game-high 26 points for Greenwich in the win.

Cooperstown will host Dolgeville Tuesday.

The Oneonta girls shut down Windsor for a 35-20 win Friday at the Anthony Drago Tournament.

Hayden LeFever notched a double-double for the Yellowjackets with 13 points and 15 rebounds.

Elsewhere, Izzy Giacomelli had nine rebounds and five steals to go with two points, Khadhija Randall had nine steals and Kylie Carr finished with six points, seven rebounds, five steals and five assists.
