Steve Finegan, of Johnston, is the Storm Works Athlete of the Week for Football

With their season on the line, the Johnston Panthers gave the ball to their dependable senior back Steve Finegan, who came through with the touchdown and 2-point conversion that gave Johnston a 35-34 win over Tolman last week.

Finegan was in beast mode, rushing 21 times for 104 yards and two touchdowns, catching a pass for 56 yards and scoring on a 5-yard interception return. Johnston will need Finegan to be top form again tonight, as they face Middletown in a semifinal matchup.

Finegan's performance on the field got the Panthers to the next round, and got him across the finish line first in this week's heated Storm Works Roofing & Restoration Athlete of the Week poll for football. Finegan garnered 43,626 votes (57%), while Mitch Ivatts of Barrington clocked in with 42% of the more than 77,000 votes cast.
