Who won NASCAR Cup race in Phoenix? Winner is Christopher Bell, plus full results
Christopher Bell held off the field late to claim his seventh career win in the NASCAR Cup Series Shriners Children's 500 on Sunday at Phoenix Raceway.
It was a dominant performance at the end for the driver of the No. 20 Joe Gibbs Racing Toyota. Bell went from 20th place to first after the last restart. It was the first win of the season for Toyota. Chevrolet won the first three races of the 2024 Cup season.
Bell, who had a bad pit stop during the second stage and made his last stop with 96 laps to go, led 50 of the 312 laps. It was his first win over the season and first at the 1-mile Phoenix Raceway oval.
Chris Buescher was second in his No. 17 RFK Racing Ford finishing 5.465 seconds behind the winner. Bell's teammate Ty Gibbs was third followed by Brad Keselowski at fourth and defending Cup champion Ryan Blaney at fifth.
Denny Hamlin, who started on from the pole position, led 68 laps, but spun out late in his No. 11 Joe Gibbs Racing Toyota and finished 11th in the 36-car field.
