Wolfpack's Henry Sellards commits to NDSU football
Aug. 2—Henry Sellards, who will be a senior offensive lineman at Glacier High this fall, already has plans for college — he gave his verbal commitment to North Dakota State for football Tuesday.
The 6-foot-5, 270-pounder was first-team All-State for Class AA last fall with the Wolfpack, helping his team to an 7-4 record.
"Super excited and honored to announce my commitment to NDSU football after a great conversation with (head coach Matt Entz)," Sellards tweeted. "Thank you so much to those that have supported me through my journey thus far."
Reached by phone Tuesday night, he said he picked the Fargo school over the Montana State Bobcats, Montana Grizzlies and FBS Akron Zips.
The Bison have won 149 of 161 games since 2011 and have gone 49-7 in four seasons under Entz, who guided NDSU to FCS titles in 2019 and 2021, along with a runner-up finish last season. The Bison also offered Sellards about a 70 percent scholarship, he said.
"I went there for a junior day visit (in the spring) and they offered me then," Sellards said. "Then I was there again last weekend and had a great time.
"I was thinking the Cats, and NDSU gave me a bigger offer and I was feeling at home in Fargo. That's what turned the tide for me."
The program, with the possible exception of defending national champion South Dakota State, has been a bully on the block, led by a physical offensive line. Four Bison linemen have been drafted into the NFL in the last nine years.
"That was also a big thing," Sellards said. "There's not many O-line schools that stand up to NDSU."
Sellards was honorable mention in 2021 after taking over as Glacier High's left tackle as a sophomore. He holds a 3.7 grade-point average and plans to study business management at NDSU.
