WNC Week 14 winter sports top performers: Bryson Rowe tallies double-double for North Henderson

Here are the WNC athletes who have had big performances this week in winter sports.

Zymicah Wilkins, Christ School: Wilkins' 20 points and 10 rebounds lifted the Greenies past Wesleyan Christian Academy and into the semifinals of the NCISAA 4A playoffs.

Friday

Boys basketball

Caiden Brewer, East Henderson: Brewer recorded a double-double with 26 points and 14 rebounds as East Henderson beat Smoky Mountain 81-57.

Noah Brannon, Franklin: Brannon tallied a career-high 27 points for the Panthers in a 70-66 win over Pisgah.

Max McClure, Franklin: McClure recorded 24 points and 10 rebounds, going for a double-double in Franklin's first round conference tournament win.

Malachi Simpson, Hendersonville: Simpson recorded his 11th double-double of the year in a 70-58 loss to Patton, scoring 16 points with 12 boards.

Max McDowell, Roberson: McDowell recorded 16 points to help beat Erwin 81-41 and clinch a share of the Mountain Athletic Conference.

Jed West, Tuscola: West tallied 19 points, five rebounds and five steals, but Tuscola fell 71-51 to North Henderson.

Girls basketball

Chandler Lowery, Pisgah: Lowery's double-double, with 17 points and 11 rebounds, was the first of her career. Pisgah beat East Henderson 59-30.

Thursday

Boys basketball

Tre Crite, Brevard: Crite led the Blue Devils to an 81-61 win over Polk County with 28 points and 10 rebounds.

Eli Griffin, Brevard: Griffin recorded his own double-double with 19 points and 10 rebounds.

Benjamin Kessinger, Brevard: Kessinger was the third Brevard player to record a double-double in the game with 14 points and 11 rebounds.

Trent Clark, North Buncombe: Clark scored 29 points with seven assists, guiding the Black Hawks to an 83-65 win over Erwin.

Cole Edmonds, North Buncombe: Edmonds added 23 points and eight rebounds to his teammate's effort.

Gunnar Alm, Polk County: Alm scored 21 points in an 81-61 loss to Brevard.

Girls basketball

Sara Larios, Asheville Christian Academy: Larios had 19 points, five rebounds and five assists, but ACA's season came to an end with a 59-48 loss to Forsythe Country Day.

Hennie Calloway, Asheville High: Calloway tallied 16 points to lead the Cougars in a 50-37 loss to Enka.

Ryann Hernandez, Asheville School: Hernandez recorded 24 points and seven steals, leading the Blues to a 65-23 win over Hickory Grove Christian.

Sage Young, McDowell: Young scored 14 points, but the Titans fell to Reynolds, 78-41.

Kadence Penley, North Buncombe: Penley recorded 15 points in a 45-37 win over Erwin.

Bailey Staton, Polk County: Staton scored 29 points with seven assists and six rebounds in a 72-32 win over Brevard.

Kylie Lewis, Polk County: Lewis added a double-double for the Wolverines, contributing 17 points and 14 boards.

Tait Harvey, Reynolds: Harvey led Reynolds to a 78-41 win over McDowell and a Mountain Athletic Conference title. Harvey had 20 points and six rebounds with five made 3-pointers.

Peyton Harvey, Reynolds: Harvey added 15 points to the Rockets' effort.

Tuesday

Boys basketball

Aris Joyner, Asheville High: Joyner recorded 21 points and nine rebounds to help the Cougars defeat North Buncombe 67-63.

Ethan Henson, Blue Ridge Early College: Henson scored 23 points to lead his team in a 75-39 loss to Hiwassee Dam.

Tre Crite, Brevard: Crite's 16 points led the Blue Devils, but they fell 63-58 to Hendersonville.

Jack Teesateskie, Cherokee: Teesateskie scored 25 points in a 74-68 win over Robbinsville, giving the Braves the No. 1 seed in the Smoky Mountain Conference Tournament.

Jaxon Dillingham, Madison: Dillingham scored 15 points to help Madison outlast Owen, 59-51.

Rylan Parkins, McDowell: Parkins led the Titans with 21 points in a 94-56 victory over Erwin.

David Olivo, McDowell: Olivo backed up Parkins' performance with 18 points.

Trent Clark, North Buncombe: Clark scored 26 points, right around his season average, but the Black Hawks lost 67-63 to Asheville High.

Bryson Rowe, North Henderson: Rowe's double-double, recording 24 points and 11 rebounds, helped North Henderson to an 82-62 win over Pisgah to close the regular season.

Zion McDaniel, North Henderson: McDaniel added 23 points for the Knights as they finished 9-3 in conference play.

Aaron Jackson, Polk County: Jackson scored 22 points to help the Wolverines rally, but Polk County still lost 86-71 to East Rutherford.

Gunnar Alm, Polk County: Alm added 21 points for the Wolverines in the loss.

Daxon Mason, Owen: Mason recorded a 12-point, 12-rebound double-double in Owen's 59-51 loss to Madison.

Zach Dickey, Reynolds: Dickey scored 19 points, including making four 3-pointers, as Reynolds beat rival Roberson, 58-51.

Declan Brown, Reynolds: Brown added 11 points and four rebounds for the Rockets in the win.

Darion Ledbetter, Robbinsville: Ledbetter recorded 16 points, six rebounds and five steals as Robbinsville fell 74-68 to Cherokee.

Lex Dinwiddie, Roberson: Dinwiddie had one of his best games of the year, scoring 11 points with nine rebounds, in a 58-51 loss to Reynolds.

Jackson Lyda, West Henderson: With 24 points and nine assists, the Falcons downed Tuscola 88-53.

Girls basketball

Sara Larios, Asheville Christian Academy: Larios tallied 18 points, eight steals and seven assists, helping the Lions to a win in their NCISAA first-round playoff win over Gaston Christian.

Hayziah Dillingham, Asheville High: Dillingham's 15-point, 13-rebound double-double helped the Cougars to a 48-41 win over North Buncombe and a third-place finish in the Mountain Athletic Conference.

Ryann Hernandez, Asheville School: Hernandez scored 18 points with eight steals in the Blues' 64-22 win over SouthLake Christian Academy in the first round of the NCISAA playoffs.

Lilly Everette, Carolina Day: Everette scored 28 points and added 10 rebounds, recording a double-double in Carolina Day's first-round loss to St. Thomas More Academy, 65-42.

Whitney Rogers, Cherokee: Rogers scored 30 points in a 92-23 win over Robbinsville, leading Cherokee to a 10-0 conference record.

Mallory Peck, Hayesville: Peck tallied a double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds, guiding Hayesville to a 50-32 win over Murphy and an 8-2 record in conference play.

Clara McCartha, McDowell: McCartha finished with 14 points, a team-high for the Titans in a 58-31 win over Erwin.

Dot Mills, Pisgah: Mills recorded 16 points, seven assists, six rebounds and four steals as Pisgah downed North Henderson 64-21.

Peyton Harvey, Reynolds: Harvey scored 15 points, the most for the Rockets, in a 71-25 victory over rival Roberson.

Julie Janus, Reynolds: Janus added 13 points and five rebounds for the Rockets.

Ava Young, Reynolds: Young also contributed 13 points and five rebounds.

Kylie Carrington, Roberson: Carrington scored 12 points against Reynolds in a 71-25 loss, contributing nearly half her team's offense.
