Wisconsin Badgers legend Frank Kaminsky gets married to former SportsCenter anchor Ashley Brewer in Mexico wedding

Frank Kaminsky provided Wisconsin Badgers basketball fans a lot of fireworks with his sparkling performances in leading the team to back-to-back Final Fours in 2014 and 2015.

It should be no surprise then guests at his destination wedding last weekend were greeted with a fireworks show during the reception.

Kaminsky, whose No. 44 Badgers jersey is hanging in the Kohl Center rafters, had a beachside wedding in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico, last week with his bride, Ashley Brewer, a former ESPN anchor.

The two shared images of the gorgeous day on their Instagram accounts Monday. Kaminsky wrote that he "married the love of his life."

Congratulations from the sports world quickly poured in.

The wedding was an all-white affair with Kaminsky's jacket matching Brewer's dress. Brewer walked down the aisle with a white bouquet, while white roses were spread out among the seating area. The couple was showered with white petals after saying their "I do's."

We don't have video of Kaminsky's speech at the wedding, but if it's anything like the speech he was practicing days earlier, captured on Brewer's Instagram account, it was likely must-see.

Kaminsky, of course, was known for his jovial personality, along with many others on those Badgers teams as UW became one of the best teams in the country during that period.

Kaminsky and Brewer first connected in 2018 after the NBA player sent her a direct message on Instagram in 2018, according to People.com, which had all the details of the 85-person wedding.

He saw her on TV working as a sports reporter at a news station in Los Angeles and told People.com, "she was so beautiful I had to try and find a way to meet her."

The two got engaged in September in Hawaii.

Frank Kaminsky saw time in NBA Finals against the Bucks in 2021

Kaminsky, 30, is a free agent after finishing his eighth year in the NBA last season, splitting time between the Atlanta Hawks and Houston Rockets.

He began his career in Charlotte after the Hornets drafted him ninth overall in 2015 following an All-American career at Wisconsin.

Kaminsky played four seasons there and had his best scoring year of his career in his second season, averaging 11.1 points per game. He was a consistent presence off the Hornets' bench his first three years, playing an average of 78 games a season.

But the 7-foot Kaminsky has been hampered by injuries recently, though he did see time in the NBA Finals against the Milwaukee Bucks in 2021 as a member of the Phoenix Suns.

The Suns released him last offseason and he played in just 36 games with the Hawks and Rockets in 2022-23, averaging a career-low 2.5 points per game and 1.4 rebounds.

Who is Ashley Brewer?

Brewer, 31, is a Phoenix native and former All-American high school swimmer. She swam at Texas and USC and then jumped into sports broadcasting. She worked in local markets in Tucson, Arizona, and Los Angeles before signing with ESPN.

Brewer co-anchored the late-night SportsCenter from Los Angeles for almost two years until she was recently among several high-profile on-air talent let go as part of ESPN's latest round of cuts. That came a week before her wedding to Kaminsky.

Brewer tweeted on June 30, "I am so grateful for my time at ESPN and the opportunity to host Sportscenter. I learned and grew so much as a broadcaster and person. I will really miss all of the wonderful friends I made along the way. I know God has a plan for my life and I look forward to what’s next."

She replied to herself in answering that question on Twitter.

"What’s next: my wedding is in one week!"
