Winter All-County 2023: Meet the best girls weightlifters in Palm Beach County!

Palm Beach County's strongest girls weightlifters matched their own lofty standards and set new program bests in an impressive 2022-23 campaign.

Girls weightlifting wraps up six days honoring the best of Palm Beach County winter high school sports.

All-County selections are also finalists for The Post's Player of the Year award and will be invited to the Palm Beach County High School Sports Awards Show in downtown West Palm Beach June 9 at Dreyfoos Hall. The show is produced with support from Baptist Health Orthopedic Care.

Angelina Belanger, Suncoast

Belanger took fourth place in the 154-pound Olympic competition with a score of 335. She also took sixth place at state in 154-pound Traditional with a 340 score. Belanger was dominant for Suncoast at regionals and districts with four first-place finishes in Traditional and Olympic competitions.

Anna Fiore, Suncoast

Fiore finished as state runner-up in the Class 2A 110-pound Olympic division with a combined score of 280. She also placed sixth in the Traditional division with a 270 score. At regionals, Fiore won the 110-pound Olympic division and placed third in Traditional. She was a two-time district champion in the 110-pound division.

Anna Rohrer, American Heritage-Delray

Rohrer shined with third-place finishes in the 199-pound Olympic (315) and Traditional (360) events at the Class 1A state championships. At regionals, Rohrer finished as runner-up in both events after capturing a pair of district championships.

Danyla Sanders, Pahokee

Sanders was an unlimited star for the Blue Devils this season, winning district and region championships en route to a fourth-place finish in the Traditional competition at the Class 1A state championships (375).

Mia Hernandez, Wellington

Hernandez was a reliable standout for the Wolverines in the 129-pound Traditional competition. She captured district and region championships before placing fourth at the Class 3A state championships (350).

Ritch Duperval, Olympic Heights

Duperval won district championships and finished as region runner-up in Unlimited Traditional and Olympic competitions for the Lions. She took fourth place at state in the Class 3A Unlimited Olympic division (335) to earn the first state medal in Olympic Heights girls weightlifting history.

Coach of the Year

Peter Callovi, Wellington

Callovi led the program to great success with a district championship and region runner-up finish in Traditional competition. At state, Wellington sent two qualifiers and put a lifter on the podium with Mia Hernandez’s fourth-place finish in the 129-pound division.

Honorable Mention

Zora Banks, Dwyer – Region runner-up in 199-pound Olympic division; two-time district champion.

Angelina Bryan, Boynton Beach – Qualified for regional competition in Traditional (195) and Olympic (205) lifts.

Selena Calix, Palm Beach Gardens – Ninth-place at state in 183-pound Traditional division; region and district champion.

Rachael Cemerci, Dwyer – Region fourth place, eighth-place finish in 154-pound Olympic and Traditional divisions; district champion in Olympic, runner-up in Traditional.

Isabella Chapdelaine, Forest Hill – Region third place, fourth in 169-pound division; district champion in Olympic, runner-up in Traditional.

Reanna Edwards, Dwyer – Region runner-up and fourth-place in the 183-pound Olympic and Traditional divisions; district champion in Olympic, runner-up in Traditional.

Emma Johnson, Wellington – Third and fifth-place finish in 169-pound Traditional and Olympic divisions at regionals; district champion in Traditional.

Nicolette Kaforous, Suncoast – Ninth-place at state in 129-pound Traditional division; eighth-place in Olympic division; runner-up in both events at regionals; two-time district champion.

Giulianna Incorvaia, West Boca Region runner-up in 129-pound Olympic, third place in Traditional; two-time district champion in both divisions.

Sophia Ortega, Olympic Heights – District champion and a fifth-place finish at regionals in the 110-pound division.

Christina Rameau, Boynton Beach – Seventh-place at state in 101-pound Olympic division; seventh-place in event at regionals and district runner-up.

Alani Rose, Olympic Heights – Region runner-up, third place in 101-pound Olympic and Traditional divisions; two-time district champion.

Nina Sanchez, Wellington – Region champion in 139-pound Traditional division; two-time district champion in 139-pound division.

Asia Scott, Pahokee – Finished 10th in Unlimited Traditional at state; runner-up in event at regionals, fourth at districts.

Riley Shahin, American Heritage-Delray – Eighth-place at state in 183-pound Olympic division; fourth and fifth-place finishes in events at regionals.

Jada Smith, Olympic Heights – Region runner-up in 154-pound Olympic division, third in Traditional; two-time district champion in weight division.

Leigha Sutton, Boca Raton – Fifth-place at state in 139-pound Olympic division; region and district champion in event

Olivia Wojtowicz, Palm Beach Central – Region third place in 183-pound Traditional division; two-time district champion in weight class.
