Who wins the 2024 College World Series? Our CWS predictions are in

The College World Series opens on Friday in Omaha with a chalky field featuring seven national seeds including the top four overall.

Tennessee baseball is the No. 1 overall seed and the favorite, though the Vols are on the side of the bracket with three other national seeds.

On the other side of the bracket, NC State will face three SEC teams including No. 2 overall seed Kentucky.

College World Series predictions: Who will win the College World Series in Omaha?

Derrian Carter, Greenville News

Tennessee over Kentucky: The Vols have been the most complete team this year. Their combination of pitching and hitting with future high MLB draft picks is recipe for them to win their first CWS.

David Eckert, Clarion Ledger

Tennessee over Texas A&M: I still believe that the best two pitching staffs in the eight-team field will ride those arms into the championship series. But, with Shane Sdao and Braden Montgomery both set to miss out for the Aggies, I’m swapping my national championship pick to the Vols.

Gentry Estes, Tennessean

Texas A&M over Tennessee: The two best teams make it to final weekend, but once there, I think a lack of pitching finally catches up to the Vols over a three-game series.

Nick Gray, Tennessean

North Carolina over Kentucky: I have been a bigger believer in UNC this month than most, and while the Tar Heels haven't been winning comfortably in every game, they have excelled in many different game situations in the NCAA tournament. UNC outduels Tennessee before outslugging CWS debutant Kentucky.

Stefan Krajisnik, Clarion Ledger

Tennessee over Florida: Throughout the postseason, I’ve predicted Tennessee would beat Texas A&M in the finals. However, I’m riding the hot team in Florida to reach the championship series. The Vols, behind their powerful offense, will still come out as the national champions.

Sam Sklar, Hattiesburg American

Tennessee over Texas A&M: Tennessee is a machine. Everyone in that lineup is capable of having a monstrous game. My only concern is how the Volunteers perform away from Lindsey Nelson Stadium where they are 15-8 instead of 40-4.
