After winning the Quincy Invitational, Pittsford girls track earns another W at Concord

PITTSFORD — The Pittsford varsity girls track team has seen significant success this past week, including a strong showing at the SCAA divisional meet at their home track and a firstt place finish at the Oriole Classic in Quincy.

The Wildcats followed up that invitational win with their second-straight first place finish at another team's invitational meet. This time, the Wildcats won at the Concord Chuck King Invitational, defeating the host Yellowjackets 143-to-97.33 in final total points.

The team nearly had a sweep of five of the six main dash races. Ana Camila Salazar took 10th in the 100 dash with a time of 14.45. Taking second in the 200 was Camila Salazar with a new PR time of 28.84. Senior Halle Clark took third right behind her teammate with a 28.89.

Clark would win the 400 with a time of 1:04.96 seconds. Teammate Anna Newell took fourth with a time of 1:11.96.

In the 800, senior Brooke Smith won her first of three races. She won the 800 with a new PR time of 2:21.96. She won the 1600 with a time of 5:37.04. The senior then won the 3200 with a time of 12:31.27. The senior is ranked fifth in the state in 800 standings for D4. Smith has won all but one of her 1600 and 800 races this season and has won all of her 3200-meter runs.

Junior Ava Mallar won both the 100 hurdles and the 300 hurdles with respective times of 17.59 and 48.84. Mallar is currently ranked seventh in the state in the 300 hurdles.

The 4x100 relay took fifth with a time of 56.52. The 4x200 team of Ana Camila Salazar, Breana Probst, Halle Clark and Anna Newell took second with a time of 1:55.17. The 4x400 team of Halle Clark, Anna Newell, Karlee Embach and Preslye Hamilton took third with a time of 5:08.63. The 4x800 team of Lillian Jagielski, Brooke Smith, Anna Newell and Kaila Handy took first with a time of 10:45.70.

Over in shot put and discus, sophomore Laura LeMar set new PRs with respective throws of 28-feet, 6 inches and 75-feet, 2 inches. LeMar took third in shot and seventh in discus.

In high jump, Riley McCumber took fourth with a jump height of 4-feet, 6 inches. Chloe Fowler took second in pole vault with a 9-6 clearance. Her teammates Savannah Watkins and Alexis Riddle tied in fifth with a 6-6. Shelby Bryner took eighth in long jump with a 14-4 1/2 distance.

Boys Track and Field Results

There were several impressive efforts in the boys results from Concord for both Pittsford and Waldron.

Pittsford freshman Brendon Nave set a new PR in long jump with a distance of 17-feet, 11 3/4 inches. Junior Teagan Williams took first in pole vault for Pittsford with a height of 11-feet. Senior Wildcat Legend Gore took sixth in high jump with a 5-6 clearance height.

Waldron senior Brexton Daley took third in discus with a new PR throw of 119-feet, 5 inches. Daley took fifth in shot put with a throw of 36-feet, 10 inches. The Waldron 4x800 (10:06.72) and 4x400 (4:26.14) relay teams took fifth. Their 4x200 team took seventh with a time of 1:57.95.

The Pittsford 4x200 team took fifth with a time of 1:37.05. The Wildcats took fifth in the 4x100 with a time of 48.10. Senior Bryce Williams ran the 3200 for Pittsford, taking seventh with a time of 12:07.45.

Williams took third in the 800 dash with a time of 2:08.85. Ryan Anderson of Waldron took sixth with a 2:19.12.

Pittsford junior Noah Pann took eighth in the 200 with a PR time of 25.26. Ryan Evener took ninth in the 100 for Pittsford with a time of 12.33 seconds.
