Wilson Central boys survive Livingston rally

Dec. 30—WATERTOWN — Wilson Central's boys survived Livingston Academy's game-ending shots for a win Thursday in winning the battle of the Wildcats 47-46 in the Watertown Christmas Classic.

Central led by 11 points during the fourth quarter before Livingston rallied with the game's final 10 points. LA had close opportunities to score the go-ahead basket as the final seconds ticked off but missed.

The entire first half was back and forth. Livingston beat the first-quarter buzzer on a layup off a steal by Tucker Miller for a 9-8 edge.

Wilson Central edged in front 27-26 by halftime as Towan Siler scored half of his 18 points during the second period. WCHS took a 34-31 advantage into the fourth quarter.

Siler sank a pair of 3-pointers. JaMichael Mitchell added eight points while Jordan Lawson scored seven, Skylor Crass five, Ike Boone four, Brody Fly a 3 and Grafton Graves two.

Daniel Bilbrey battled 10 free throws in leading Livingston with 16 points.

Wilson Central faced Clarkrange yesterday and will travel to Trousdale County on Tuesday night.

Lebanon falls to MLK despite Harris' 25NASHVILLE — Lebanon's boys stayed within striking distance of Martin Luther King until the Royals opened the margin in the third quarter and beat the Blue Devils 63-52 Thursday in the opening round of the Willie Brown Memorial Christmas Tournament at Father Ryan.

MLK led 14-11 at the first-quarter break and 27-25 at halftime before going on a 17-6 blitz in the third period to open a 44-31 margin.

Azariah Anderson led three Royals in double figures with 17 points, including three 3-pointers. Avery Townsend sank four of MLK's 10 triples on his way to 14 while M.J. Floyd finished with 12.

MLK had no answer for Lebanon point guard Avery Harris, who hit five triples on his way to a game-high 25 points while T.J. Searcy sank a pair of triples as part of his 13. Marcus White scored seven points, Marques Anglin four, Dekevion Bass two and Amaure' Manier a free throw.

Lebanon returned to Ryan yesterday for a consolation contest and will finish the tournament today at either 2:30 p.m. for seventh place or 4 p.m. for fifth.

Green Hill wins in Allen's 800th gameNASHVILLE — Green Hill advanced to the Willie Brown Memorial Christmas Tournament semifinals with a 55-46 win over LaVergne on Thursday at Father Ryan.

The win came in Troy Allen's 800th game as a head coach covering three schools — Hillsboro, Mt. Juliet (2005-20) and Green Hill (since '20). This was his 539th win.

Green Hill led 11-10 at the first-quarter break, 29-21 at halftime and 39-29 going into the fourth.

Aaron Mattingly led Green Hill with 18 points while Antjuan Welch fired in 14. Kenny Ellis and Rex Harmon each had five points, Nick Owens four and Tanner Bolton, Jalen Mitchell and Christian Bright three each.

Daunte White led LaVergne with 13 points, followed by Steven Sherman's 11 and Xialin Lenoir's 10.

Green Hill played in the semifinal game against Blackman last night and will be in either the third-place or championship game tonight. The Blaze advanced by handing former Wilson Central coach Troy Bond's Brentwood Bruins their first loss of the season Thursday.
