For the first time in its history, ESPN's "College GameDay" will travel to Durham, North Carolina to showcase No. 13 Notre Dame's Week 5 matchup against the No. 16 Blue Devils. But their celebrity guest picker is no rookie to the show.

Popular American actor Ken Jeong, who previously appeared on "the show "GameDay" in 2021, announced on Thursday he will serve as the celebrity guest picker via social media Thursday.

Jeong, who attended Duke University as an undergraduate student, is a well-known actor and popular culture figure, rising to fame after his cameo as Leslie Chow in "The Hangover." He also starred in the hit television series "Community" and ABC sitcom "Dr. Ken."

Here's everything you need to know about Jeong and his latest appearance on "College GameDay:"

Why is Ken Jeong on 'College GameDay'?

The Hollywood star will join the "College Gameday" cast to pick whether the Fighting Irish or Blue Devils will come out victorious in their Week 5 matchup. Notre Dame looks to bounce back after a heartbreaking last-second loss to Ohio State, while the Blue Devils hopes to stay undefeated on the season. The Irish will be Duke's second ranked opponent of the year after Clemson, but could be the Blue Devils' toughest matchup yet this year.

Jeong was born in Detroit but moved to Greensboro, North Carolina, when he was 4 years old. While he originally planned on practicing medicine, Jeong began performing regularly at comedy clubs in Los Angeles before transitioning to a full-time entertainer in 2006.

He graduated from Duke University in 1990 and obtained his medical doctorate from the University of North Carolina School of Medicine in 1995. Jeong regularly attends Duke basketball games at the Cameron Indoor Stadium and is clearly an avid Blue Devils fan.

“Ya boy is Duke’s first-ever guest picker,” Jeong said in a video posted on his X account (formerly Twitter). “Tune in this Saturday at around 11:30 a.m. to see my picks. Let’s go Duke and see ya soon, Lee Corso!”
