Who's stepping up? 10 of the top football players in Franklin County so far

With only three weeks remaining in the regular season, the teams from Franklin County are fighting for playoff positioning. In games like this, the star players need to play like stars.

There are plenty of players who are delivering for their teams.

Week 8 preview, predictions: Can Greencastle-Antrim get back on track?

Here's 10 players that have stepped up so far, and who will be asked to continue that in crunch time.

Logan Alvey (Greencastle-Antrim)

Greencastle’s quarterback has been steady throughout the season, leading the Blue Devils to a 5-2 record on the season. With only two interceptions and 829 yards on the season, he has done what he needs to do. Plus, in games like their win against Northern, he’s been able to air it out when the passing game needs to step up.

Andrew Florek (Waynesboro)

The Waynesboro junior has been a leader of this defense, leading the team, and putting himself near the top of the county, in tackles. Going into Week 7, he had 51 tackles on the season.

Rayshawn Frazer-Hewitt (Waynesboro)

Maybe a surprising aspect of the season has been how well the Waynesboro offense has played for much of the season. The young quarterback has been a steady hand this season, feeding the talent around him. Only a sophomore, he is showing plenty of potential.

Parker Funk (Greencastle-Antrim)

If Greencastle needs a sack, Funk is usually the man for the job. Nine sacks going into last week, near the top of the conference. He also is one of the team leaders in tackles, and he is one of the main senior leaders on this veteran squad that is having a strong season thus far.

Riley Harmon (Chambersburg)

Chambersburg has shown big play ability at points of the season, and Harmon is a big reason for that. He has 1,165 yards on the season, playing well and stepping up if the run game has had difficulties. He has a talented group of receivers around him that helps with his efficiency.

Rhaigeon Parker (Chambersburg)

Speaking of talented receivers around him, Parker has been as advertised for much of the season. With 351 yards and three touchdowns on the season, the senior has been a big play threat consistently, and he is just one of a talented group of receivers.

Carter McCauley (Greencastle-Antrim)

Speaking of talented receivers, McCauley has been the favorite target of Alvey for much of the season, and for good reason. With nearly 340 yards on the season, he has been a big play threat, and a target that Alvey consistently gets involved.

Trent Merillat (Greencastle-Antrim)

One of the leaders in tackles in the county, Merillat is a big reason why the Blue Devil defense has been strong for much of the year. Going into week 7, he had 56 tackles on the season.

Xzavier Ramsey (Greencastle-Antrim)

With nearly 350 yards on the season, Ramsey has been the go-to guy on the ground for the Blue Devils. It hasn’t been easy the past few weeks, but when he’s on his game, Greencastle is tough to beat.

Kaden Shope (Shippensburg)

Shope is getting it done on both sides of the ball, as he’s been the favorite target of quarterback Brady Maciejewski, while also being a consistent force in the secondary on defense. One of the Greyhounds’ most important player.
