White Pigeon's Stewart earns Week 8 Footballer of the Week

WHITE PIGEON — Taylor Stewart of White Pigeon was voted as the Footballer of the Week for the eighth week of the regular season.

Stewart helped lead the Chiefs to a victory over visiting Greenwood Christian Academy, a team from the Indianapolis area. White Pigeon won 72-6, tying the school record for the most points in a game.

Stewart rushed for 127 yards and a pair of touchdowns on the evening. He was one six players up for last week's award along with Logan Markey of Sturgis, Owen Gorham and JT Lux of Mendon, John Bontrager of White Pigeon and Rasean O'Tey of Sturgis as well.

Markey made a serious push at Stewart in the last 24 hours or so. Even so, Stewart finished with 62.97 percent of the votes cast for the award.

Apologies out to Markey and the Sturgis football program as he was added late to the potential list.
