Where Jayden Daniels, Malik Nabers land in ESPN’s latest mini-mock draft

The 2024 NFL draft is quickly approaching, and draft boards are beginning to be finalized.

ESPN’s draft team of Matt Miller, Jordan Reid and Field Yates came together to release a new mini-mock draft on Saturday, and a pair of Tigers are slated to go in the first 12 picks.

First off is Heisman-winning quarterback Jayden Daniels, who is expected to be a top-five pick and one of the first quarterbacks off the board. Reid projects that he’ll ultimately end up with the Washington Commanders, who need a signal-caller and pick second overall.

Here’s what he had to say about Daniels’ fit with new offensive coordinator Kliff Kingsbury.

Considering the QBs whom offensive coordinator Kliff Kingsbury has had success with in the past, I like Daniels’ dynamic ability as a downfield thrower and high-end dual threat in Washington.

Reid also slots receiver Malik Nabers in the top five, sending him to a Los Angeles Chargers team at No. 5 that now has a major need at receiver after losing Keenan Allen and Mike Williams this offseason.

With both Mike Williams (cut and signed by the Jets) and Keenan Allen (traded to the Bears) now gone, the Chargers are in desperate need of a talented pass-catcher. And Nabers is explosive.

Though he doesn’t appear in this mock, which ends after the first 12 picks, receiver Brian Thomas Jr. is also widely expected to go in the first round, potentially as high as the top 15.
