Bowen hat trick bests Brentford, snaps West Ham winless skid

West Ham broke out of their slump in style, as Jarrod Bowen's hat trick highlighted a 4-2 pounding of Brentford on Monday.

Bowen scored twice in the first seven minutes than completed his heroics after the hour mark to restore a two-goal lead before Emerson Palmieri capped the goals in style.

The win ends a six-match winless run that saw the Irons drop from sixth to ninth place. Their 39 points are now enough for eighth, behind Brighton on goal differential and five back of Manchester United.

Neal Maupay scored early and Yoane Wissa late, as the Bees fell apart in the second half to lose a third-straight game. Brentford have lost 12 of their last 15 Premier League games dating back to November 12.

Their 25 points have them 16th, behind Everton on goal differential following the Toffees' reduced points deduction. Brentford are five points clear of the bottom three.

Bowen back amongst goals = West Ham back amongst wins

Jarrod Bowen has scored 14 Premier League goals this season including his hat trick on Monday, and only two players in the division have more this season.

It's been six games since Bowen recorded a PL goal or assist this campaign, and it should come as no surprise that West Ham's record in those games is 0-3-3 with three total goals scored (against 14 conceded by the Irons).

The rambunctious wide man has 14 goals and five assists across all competitions this season, and the Irons rarely lose when he has a goal contribution: 2W-0D-0L in Europa League, a draw in the FA Cup, 1W-1L in the League Cup, and 8W-1D-3L in the Premier League.

Of course when a team scores, they'll have a decent record. But that mark? 11W-2D-4L? There's a word for that: Talismanic, and just in time with the Europa League Round of 16 versus Freiburg just around the corner.

What’s next?

Brentford host Chelsea at 10am ET Saturday in the Premier League, the same kickoff time that West Ham have at Everton.

Mohammed Kudus is shifting like a glitching graphic on the right side, and he's freed up enough room to clip a cross toward the near post.

Bowen darts onto it and uses the side of his head to complete his hat trick.

West Ham needed a half like this, dominant.

That said, the one-goal lead despite a 13-2 shots advantage won't have David Moyes counting the three points.
