Slaven Bilic is set to offer £8 million for Dinamo Zagreb winger Mislav Orsic after a late-night transfer summit at the Hawthorns.

Bilic will move for the Croatia international this week as he bids to fire up West Brom’s promotion bid after a recent slump in form for the Championship leaders.

The Albion head coach was locked in talks with chief executive Mark Jenkins and Luke Dowling, the club's technical director, until the early hours after the home defeat to Stoke on Monday night.

And Bilic is targeting up to two new signings before the transfer window closes, with Orsic viewed as a priority.

Orsic, 27, has scored 17 goals for Dinamo this season, including a hat-trick against Atalanta in the Champions League, and will cost around €9.5m.

Bilic also wants to add competition in the full-back department as he moves to boost his squad following an alarming run of one win in the last eight league games.

West Brom’s hopes of keeping winger Grady Diangana for the rest of the season appear promising after he suffered an injury in the Stoke defeat.

Diangana has impressed since signing on loan from West Ham, and Albion had discussed the prospect of paying an extra £1.5m loan fee to guarantee he stays for the remainder of the campaign, terminating a recall clause which can be activated by January 27.

But new West Ham manager David Moyes has admitted that the 21-year-old is poised to remain with the Baggies as he is not expected to return until late February.

“It was a big consideration [recalling him],” said Moyes. “His injury last night has put paid to him coming back.

“We are so short of players just now, [it'll be] maybe a month's time when he’s recovered. He’ll probably stay there until the end of the season.”
