Hatchets wrestle at Bo Henry
BLOOMINGTON — The Washington Hatchet had 12 of our 14 varsity wrestlers made it onto the podium at the Bo Henry Classic at Bloomington High School North on Saturday. The team placed 4th overall.
WHS had two overall champions, at 106 lbs., Brady Byrd and at 144 lbs. Jack Whitehead.
Eli Jenne (285) was third, and Carter Tolbert and Diego Mora were fourth.
WHS will have Senior Night in the Hatchet House in a three-way meet on Wednesday
JH Lady Vikes down Pike
MONTGOMERY — The Barr-Reeve Junior High Lady Vikings finished their first half of the season at home on Saturday against the Pile Central Chargers.
The seventh grade led from start to finish for a 38-18 victory. JJ Knepp led the way with 20 pts. Molly Jo Anderson and Avery Wittmer each scored seven. Brielle Knepp scored four. The seventh grade is now 6-4.
The eighth grade played awesome defense and won their game 41-6. Shay Knepp and Ava Graber both scored 10 pts each. Molly Jo Anderson had nine, JJ Knepp and Avery Wittmer each scored four. Shelby Dobson and Meagan Edwards both got two pts. The eighth grade goes to 7-3 on the season. Both teams are off until Jan. 6.
WJHS hosts MTV
Washington Lady Hatchets Junior High girls basketball teams hosted Mt. Vernon Saturday morning.
The seventh grade (6-2) started the morning off with a good solid team win, 36-20 with seven of the eight players scoring in the contest with a great team win.
The WJHS eighth grade (5-5) girls played Mt. Vernon in the second game of the morning. The WJHS girls took control early and never looked back with a dominating, 41-10 win.
Both teams will host Bloomfield Wednesday at home.
WC falls to South Knox
MONROE CITY — The Washington Catholic Cardinals dropped to 1-7 with a 76-23 Blue Chip loss to South Knox on Friday.
WC's Isaac Halter led with nine points, Aiden Henry had six, Justin Sipes had five and Jesus Gomez had three.
Five of WC's seven buckets came from behind the arc.
WC is off until Dec. 30th when they host Duggar-Union.
Cougars cruise at Rivet
VINCENNES — North Daviess held host Vincennes Rivet to just 11 points through three quarters, as the Cougars downed the Patriots on Friday night at Ralph Holscher Gymnasium by the final score of 56-25.
Leading the way were a pair of sophomores in Collin Lengacher and Aaron Marner — the duo hit for 14 and 13 respectively. Senior Travis Raber also managed double figures with 10 to go with five rebounds and four steals for ND (6-1).
In the JV contest, the Cougars won 48-17 with freshmen Cole Boyd scoring 13 and classmate Jordan Knepp adding 10.
B-R 5th, 6th play SK, WRV
Barr-Reeve fifth grade defeated South Knox 40-17 on Saturday, to go to 8-0. Brynleigh Mullen led with 10, Meagan Anderson had eight and Lilly Bledsoe had six to lead.
Barr-Reeve sixth grade defeated South Knox 38-28 to go to 5-3. Shay Moffett led with 18, while Bella Trousdale added 10 to lead.
Against WRV, the fifth grade defeated WRV on Thursday, 21-24. Kiera Graber led with 16, Anderson had eight, Mullen had four, BB Madison and Dacie DeCoursey had two each.
Barr-Reeve sixth grade lost to WRV 32-18 to go to 4-3. Moffett led with eight, Norah Baker had five, Shake had three and Trousdale two.
