This week at Harbor Park: Norfolk Tides return home with best record in the International League

A look at the Norfolk Tides as they return home Tuesday to begin a six-game homestand against the Rochester Red Wings, the top affiliate of the Washington Nationals.

The Tides have the International League’s best record after closing a series in Nashville with three straight victories.

Norfolk’s record: 10-4

New in town: Outfielder Kyle Stowers joined the Tides during last week’s series at Nashville, and he’ll be back in Norfolk for the first time since last season. Stowers, who started the season with Baltimore, was hitless in four MLB at-bats there this season. He played 95 games with the Tides last season, batting .264 with 19 home runs and 78 RBIs.

In the Rochester dugout: Major league veteran Chad Pinder, who starred at Poquoson High, signed with Washington last month after logging 553 big-league games with Oakland. Pinder, 31, was placed on the 7-day injured list last Thursday, so his status for this week’s series near home is unclear.
