Week 8 football roundup: Blue Water Area MAC teams go 5-0

Here are some notable results from Friday's high school football games in the Blue Water Area.

Armada 56, Richmond 14

The Tigers have won three straight and remain in the playoff hunt.

Jackson Malburg rushed for four touchdowns as Armada improved to 5-3 overall and 4-3 in the BWAC.

The Blue Devils dropped 4-4 and 3-4, respectively.

Croswell-Lexington 34, North Branch 14

Pioneers quarterback Gavin Espinoza ran for three touchdowns, as Cros-Lex improved to 7-1 overall and 6-1 in the BWAC.

Imlay City 14, Algonac 6

Matt Evans finished 9-of-22 passing for 138 yards and one touchdown against one interception for the Spartans, who improved to 2-6 overall and 1-6 in the BWAC.

Imlay City's Travis DuPont ran for 97 yards and one score on 18 carries.

The Muskrats fell to 1-7 overall and 0-7 in the BWAC. David Clemons scored Algonac's lone touchdown on a 30-yard run.

Marysville 24, Warren Lincoln 14

Corbin Scheffler rushed for 107 yards and three touchdowns on 22 attempts, as the Vikings improved to 6-2 overall.

Connor Babel led the way defensively with six tackles and three sacks. Ben LaValley and Hunter Likins both had three tackles and one interception.

Port Huron 44, Warren Fitzgerald 30

Make it seven straight victories for the Red Hawks, who improved to 7-1 overall.

Port Huron Northern 42, Eastpointe 12

The Huskies recorded their largest margin of victory this season and improved to 6-2 overall.

Northern quarterback Lincoln Watkins ran for 168 yards and four touchdowns on 18 carries. Running back Jacob O'Hare added 140 yards and two scores on 18 carries of his own.

St. Clair 34, Hazel Park 7

Saints quarterback Ben Farkas scored three touchdowns (two rushing, one passing), as St. Clair snapped a five-game losing streak and improved to 2-6 overall.

Tight end Cooper Pennewell caught four passes for 76 yards and one touchdown.

Defensively, Liam Nesbitt led the way with five tackles, one sack and one interception.

Player of the Week

On Friday, Armada's Kaleb VanHoeck was voted the Times Herald Prep Football Player of the Week for Week 7. He finished with 10 tackles in the Tigers' 22-19 win over North Branch on Oct. 6. VanHoeck also returned an interception for a touchdown.
