Wednesday's Top Prep Performers: Boston Bateman's no-hit streak ends in win over Moorpark

Boston Bateman’s no-hit streak ended Wednesday afternoon in Moorpark, but not before it became the state’s longest such streak in 61 years.

The 6-foot-7 Camarillo High senior struck out 13 over six innings, walking four, as the Scorpions improved to 5-0 in the Coastal Canyon League with a 7-2 win at Moorpark High.

Michael Leddy lined an RBI double in the right-center field gap with one out in the sixth inning to deliver the first hit of the season off the Bateman.

Bateman hadn’t allowed a hit since the third inning of his final start of his junior season, extending back 32.2 innings.

The state record for most consecutive hitless innings is 34, set by Byron Randoph of Winters in 1963, according to CalHiSports.com.

Bateman, an LSU commit who is ranked No. 90 in the 2024 draft class according to Baseball America, also hit a two-run home run to give Camarillo a 2-0 lead in the top of the first inning.

Blaise Meylemans was 2 for 4 with two RBIs and Nick Tostado reached base three times to lead the Camarillo order.

The Musketeers dripped to 7-8-1 overall and 2-2-1 in league.
