Wednesday's local college roundup, area results: Samuel's scores sparks Clark past Worcester State

Women's soccer
Clark 2, Worcester State 0: Ashlee Samuel scored twice, with assists from Andrea Mortimer and Jamie Stern as the host Cougars (3-0) turned back the Lancers (0-1-1). Anabella White (2 saves) posted the shutout.
Assumption 0, Bentley 0: Frida Larsson made three saves to post the shutout for visiting Assumption (1-0-2) in a tie with Bentley (1-0-2). Larsson (1-0-1) hasn't allowed a goal in her first two collegiate starts.
Dean 4, Anna Maria 3: First-half goals by Olympia Myers, Riley Michaud and Abigail Smith gave the visiting AmCats (0-2-1, 0-1 GNAC) a 3-0 lead, but the Bulldogs (2-1, 1-0) scored four in the second half in Franklin.
Eastern Connecticut State 4, Fitchburg State 0: Madison Dawkins made eight saves for the visiting Falcons (1-2) against the Warriors (1-1).
Men's soccer
WPI 1, Brandeis 0: Francesco Valagussa connected in the 20th minute, and Ryan Martin made five saves in his 81 minutes to help preserve the victory in the home opener for the Engineers (1-1-1) against the Judges (1-1-1).
Worcester State 1, Husson 1: Wilber Garcia (0-0-2) scored at 9:04 for the host Lancers, but the Eagles (1-0-2) tied it late in the first half.
Wentworth 3, Clark 1: Marc Kim scored in the 28th minute for the visiting Cougars (1-1-1), but the Leopards (2-1) struck twice later in the first half and once after intermission in Boston.
Field hockey
Assumption 3, Southern New Hampshire 1: Lily Daly scored twice for the host Greyhounds, who rebounded after opening the season with setbacks to third-ranked West Chester and No. 1 East Stroudsburg last weekend.
Johnson & Wales 4, Anna Maria 0: Carly Dedrick and Hannah Tobey combined for 20 saves for the visiting AmCats (0-2) in a loss to the Wildcats (2-0).
Women's volleyball
Worcester State 3, Anna Maria 1: Cassidy D'Esposito had 10 kills, and Angela Colonis and Megan Bardis each had 13 assists to lift the visiting Lancers (1-2). Set scores were 20-25, 25-12, 25-20, 25-19. Julia Tarantino had 19 assists and 10 digs for the AmCats (0-3)
Nichols 3, Mass. Maritime 0: Haylee Granato had 16 kills and 11 digs while boosting the visiting Bison (3-0) past the Buccaneers (0-2) in Buzzards Bay. Set scores were 25-19, 25-14, 25-15.
Bryant 3, Holy Cross 0: Rachel Johnson had 12 kills, 2 aces, 3 blocks and 6 digs for the visiting Crusaders (2-5) in a setback to the Bulldogs (5-3). Set scores were 25-22, 25-20, 25-17).
