Thursday Roundup: Sheridan volleyball outlasts Tri-Valley; Lemity medals for West M golf

Here is a look at results of high school sporting events from the Muskingum Valley on Thursday.

Volleyball

Sheridan 25, 25, 23, 28, Tri-Valley 16, 19, 25, 26: Jamisyn Stinson tallied 18 kills and Dylan Fox connected on 21 of 22 serves with two aces as the visiting Generals (7-0, 6-0) stayed unbeaten in the Muskingum Valley League-Big School Division.

Payton Powell added three kills, seven kills and 21 assists and Fox five kills; Ava Heller had four kills and 15 digs.

Eva Dittmar amassed 27 kills and 10 digs, while Ingrid Dittmar dished out 38 assists and Annika Collet collected seven kills and four blocks.

Coshocton 25, 25, 25, Crooksville 17, 16, 10: Sophia McFadden compiled seven kills and Lilah Laaper and Kenedi Jackson added six as the Lady Skins (4-5) improved to 3-3 in the MVL-Small.

Lacey Guthrie had five kills, three aces and 17 assists for Coshocton.

Erica Flood totaled six points with four assists and Brynn Lundell had an ace and nine digs to lead Crooksville.

Morgan 25, 25, 25, West Muskingum 14, 23, 15: Evelyn Newton tallied 14 kills and Haven Cook nine for the Raiders in an MVL-Small School win at home.

Chloe Baker added 26 assists, Ashtyn Filkins 15 digs and Blair Clawson seven kills for Morgan (4-4, 3-3).

River View 25, 19, 25, 27, John Glenn 21, 25, 20, 25: Haley Balo piled up 21 kills and Kelsie Smith 44 assists for the Lady Bears in a hard-fought road win in the MVL-Big School Division.

Layla Olinger added nine kills, Ava Donnell six and Brittany Henderson 23 digs.

Emma Briggs (18 kills) and Emma Dolan (16) combined for 34 kills — they also combined for eight aces and 30 digs. Lauren Blair handed out 38 assists and Aleea Musselman four kills.

Philo 23, 25, 25, 25, Maysville 25, 14, 22, 18: Makenna Staker had 13 points and Briannah Wolfe 12 as the Electrics picked up an MVL-Big School road win in Newton Township.

Olivia McPeek had six aces, 15 assists and 21 digs for Maysville, which also saw Rachel Jarvis and Haylee Cornett collect five kills. Lauryn Clark added five aces.

Buckeye Trail 25, 25, 25, Malvern 19, 14, 16: The Lady Warriors picked up the IVC road victory in volleyball action on Thursday evening.

Sydney Patterson led Buckeye Trail (5-3) with 13 points, five digs, two assists, with Kayla Hinkle added 10 points, three aces, 11 digs and three kills. Anna McVicker finished with four points, 14 digs, 15 assists and 12 kills, while Ally Carpenter chipped in with six points, five digs and seven kills.

Buckeye Trail will host Edison on Monday at 6 p.m.

Boys Soccer

Rosecrans 3, Athens 3: Grady Labishak booted a pair of unassisted goals for the Bishops in a nonleague tie at Mattingly Family Field.

Tizian Schmelzer also scored without a helper for Rosecrans, which got 16 saves from Steven Porter at goal.

Tri-Valley 3, Berlin Hiland 3: Gael Osegura booted two goals off Sam Schott assists, and Schott added a goal of his own as the Scotties (5-1-1) earned a nonleague tie on the road.

Lewis Mozena also had an assist for the Scotties; Owen Harney collected seven saves.

West Muskingum 7, Sheridan 1: The Tornadoes rolled to an MVL crossover win against the Generals in Falls Township.

Xavior Weisbarth had the lone goal for Sheridan.

West M leaders were not available.

Zanesville 3, Lakewood 3: The Blue Devils took a 3-2 lead into the half but came up empty in the second half of a Licking County League crossover at John D. Sulsberger Memorial Stadium.

Luke Pierce scored twice and Matthew Keller added the other for the Lancers.

Riley Needles scored two goals, Parker Sims added a goal, Cash Omen assisted two goals and Reece Neal also assisted a score for the Blue Devils.

Girls Soccer

Coshocton 1, New Lexington 1: The Panthers managed a tie despite being outshot 20-2 in an MVL-Small School match at Stewart Field.

Addie Underwood converted from 25 yards out off a pass from Mia Lauvray to account for Coshocton's only goal.

John Glenn 12, Morgan 1: Riley Zamensky scored four times for the host Muskies (5-1, 3-1 MVL), who piled up six first-half goals in an MVL crossover win in New Concord.

Bean Sowers and Becca Spohn scored twice for the Muskies, while Faith Lemon had four saves in her return at goal.

Cadance Carpenter converted off a Gianna Myers assist to account for Morgan's only goal. Kennedy Mayle had 17 saves at goal as the Raiders (0-5-1) slipped to 0-3-1 in league play.

Sheridan 1, West M 1: Both teams scored in the second half as the Generals and host Tornadoes played to a tie in an MVL crossover.

No details were available.

Tri-Valley 9, Maysville 0: The Scotties (2-5, 2-2) rolled to a home win in an MVL-Big School game at Kenny Wolford Park. Details were not available.

Philo 2, River View 0: Sophie Saunders and Angie Myers each scored, as the Electrics emerged a road winner against the Lady Bears (5-2, 3-1) in an MVL-Big School match in Warsaw.

Scarlett Shanks made 12 saves to post the shutout for Philo.

Boys Golf

West Muskingum 171, River View 175, Meadowbrook 180: Reid Lemity's 36 was good for medalist honors for the Tornadoes in a triangular MVL sweep at Hickory Flats.

Nick Anton and Clayton Clewell had 43 and Kyle Porter 49 for West; Caleb Kline posted 37 and Thad Cox 38 for River View and Ben Coss and Steven Grafton had 41 for Meadowbrook.

Girls Tennis

West Holmes 4, Cambridge 1: The Lady Bobcats tennis team suffered a home loss in action Thursday at the Cambridge City Park courts.

Picking up the loan victory for the Lady Bobcats was the first doubles team of Miranda Cole and Emma Krise who cruised to a 6-2, 6-3 win over Nadia Chaney and Zariah Troyer.

Cambridge returns to action on Saturday morning with a road match at Dover.

Wednesday's results

Boys Golf

John Glenn 152, Maysville 158, Sheridan 162: Noah Dever fired 35, as the Muskies topped the Panthers and Generals at Coyote Run on Wednesday.

Owen Van Fossen added a 38, CJ Dolan a 39 and Hayden Gensor a 40 for John Glenn, which stayed perfect in MVL play.

Cade Pickrell led the Panthers with 37 followed by Owen Lutz with 38, Gator Nichols with 41 and Hoyt Dodson with 42.

Wyatt Satterfield carded a 38 to lead Sheridan, while Bryce Kelley and Noah Wamer shot 41s and Cody Hupp posted a 42.

Tri-Valley 173, Morgan 183, Coshocton 189: The Redskins' Coby Moore was medalist with a 40, while Xander Smalley's 41 led the Scotties at River Greens.

Jou Chow added a 42, Daniel Sparks a 44 and Gavin Harrold a 46 for Tri-Valley; Kaden Garrett paced the Raiders with 43 while Austin Dille shot 45, Wyatt Weaver 46 and Colman Steimer 49; and Bransyn Dawson had 47, Carter Summers 49 and Jerison Spain 54 for Coshocton.

Buckeye Trail 176, Claymont 189: Harry Miller fired a 42, as the Warriors improved to 8-2 in Inter-Valley Conference play.

Braden St. Clair shot a 44 and Carson Raber and Washington Miller added 45s to round out Trail's scoring.

Girls Soccer

Granville 5, Zanesville 0: The Lady Devils fell to the Blue Aces as the game only lasted a half due to lightning.
