Wayne Gretzky has signed a multi-year brand ambassador deal with BetMGM, the leading sports betting and digital gaming company.

Gretzky, the NHL's all-time leader in points, and widely regarded as the greatest hockey player of all time, will help with BetMGM's marketing initiatives.

BetMGM and Yahoo Sports formed a partnership in October 2019, allowing Yahoo Sports to become the official digital media sports partner of MGM Resorts. The NBA and NHL entered agreements with BetMGM, with NBA commissioner Adam Silver and NHL commissioner Gary Bettman both raving about the possibilities of what it means for sports betting within their respective leagues.

“BetMGM is a terrific company and one at the forefront of the dynamic changes taking place in the sports business,” Gretzky said in a press release. “I’m excited to be a part of the company’s continued expansion into new states and territories and to help tell BetMGM’s story.”

Gretzky stepped down from his role as vice-chairman of Oilers Entertainment Group on May 25 following the Edmonton Oilers' elimination from the 2021 Stanley Cup playoffs. Shortly after, it was announced he will be joining Turner Sports as an NHL analyst.

"Wayne is an exceptional talent who transcends the sports world and we’re proud to welcome him to the BetMGM team. As we look toward potential expansion into Canada, and elsewhere throughout the United States, Wayne will bring a unique ability to tell our brand story," BetMGM's chief revenue officer Matt Prevost said.

Widely referred to as "The Great One," the former Oilers and New York Rangers legend is expected to elevate this partnership to new heights.

The BetMGM app is available on both iOS and Android.
