ROSENDALE - The top-ranked Spartans (23-2, 14-0 Flyway) cruised to victory over the Wolverines (18-8, 10-6 Marinette & Oconto) in a regional semifinal to advance to a regional final against Central Wisconsin-East champion, Bonduel (23-2, 14-0), on Saturday.

Laconia started the game out on a 34-0 run and carried that big lead into the half. A running clock went into effect under nine minutes in the fourth quarter as the Spartans held a 40-point advantage.

In a complete team win, with literally each player on the roster recording both minutes and at least one statistic, the triumvirate of Eva Engel, Molly Duel and Payton Morgan led Laconia's balanced scoring attack with 12 points each.

Engel and Morgan both had the hot hand from three-point range with four apiece. Engel also led the team with three blocks and Duel shared the team-high of four steals with Aubrey Leonard, who chipped in with nine points and a team-high six assists.

Finley Morgan added 11 points and a pair of blocks while Tierney Madigan finished with 10 points, all in the first half, for the Spartans. Callista VandeBerg led Laconia with eight rebounds.

No. 2 Winnebago Lutheran 60, No. 7 Cedar Grove-Belgium 50

FOND DU LAC - The Vikings (19-6, 9-5 Flyway) led by as many as 16 points just before the half, settling on a 14-point lead at the break and a 10-point victory over the Rockets (10-15, 3-9 Big East-South) to advance to a regional final against Random Lake (14-11, 7-5 Big East-South) on Saturday.

WLA received contributions from several players in the first half, including nine points from Lindsey Nell and seven from Abby Cole with a ridiculous 16 rebounds in the first 18 minutes.

"I thought we did a nice job in the first half of getting up and down in transition," said Vikings coach Eric Schraufnagel. "I thought that was really good."

Turnovers were a bane for both teams in the first half, but WLA also got a little foul happy near halftime despite the large lead.

The Vikings cleaned up their miscues, however, and limited the unnecessary fouling in the second half, but Cedar Grove-Belgium managed to find a way to climb back into the game, nevertheless, trimming their deficit all the way down to just six points with just over two minutes to go.

"Maybe a couple too many turnovers and, yeah, I think we maybe just reached a little bit too much, but we knew Cedar Grove-Belgium is a good team," Schraufnagel said. "They've beat some really good teams this year and they've played other teams really close so when they came out strong in the second half it wasn't a surprise and that's a credit to them because they're a very good team. They played well tonight."

That's as close as the Rockets would get, though, as WLA would rattle off five straight points to pull back away without enough time for another run, securing their victory.

The Vikings' dynamic senior duo of Lindsey Nell and Abby Cole led WLA with 19 points and 18 points, respectively. Nell grabbed eight rebounds, three steals and two blocks while Cole also had three steals, and an astonishing 24 rebounds for her 20th double-double of the season.

Olivia Bahr scored a game-high 20 points and grabbed eight rebounds to lead Cedar Grove-Belgium. Aubrey Marti and Sophie Beightol each added nine points for the Rockets.

"Lindsey and Abby are both outstanding players on the court and they're great leaders for us off the court," Schraufnagel said.

"They were both great tonight. Lindsey handling the ball from the outside, slashing to the lane, and Abby having, again, 20-plus rebounds tonight with 18 points. She's inside-outside (offensively) and just as important defensively as she was matching up on their two best players. We needed their length and athleticism to match up on Olivia Bahr and Tara Schmitz and they did a good job on them because they're both very good players."

Fellow seniors Anna Trewin and Makenna Kohnke chipped in nine and eight points for the Vikings, respectively, with all of Kohnke's scoring coming in the first half while adding three steals, as well.

"As a team we played a really great game tonight," Nell said. "We spread out and really just worked together as a team and shared the ball. We did it together; it wasn't anyone individually, we all worked together for this one, so I'm just really proud of how we played."

Cole pointed out how it's a relief to get that first round playoff matchup out of the way with a win so the team can focus on their next opponent with a return to sectionals and beyond as the ultimate goal.

"It's always good to get that first win," Cole said. "You need to take it game-by-game, and just getting that first one out of the way - it was very physical and aggressive game - so it's good to have that one out of the way and tomorrow night we can't take anyone lightly, so we've got to come out with tight defense. It's always important to get that first shot. It's exciting to get the adrenaline going, and to come out with defensive intensity, that's all it takes."
