One of the crown jewels for Nebraska in the 2017 class is Plano (Texas) East defensive tackle Deiontae Watts. The 6-fo0t-3 and 305-pound three-star recruit said that Nebraska came to see him on Thursday and they had a good conversation.

"Yes sir, Coach John Parrella came to see me at my school and came to my house that night," Watts said. "He basically just wanted to see if I was solid on my commit, see how I was doing and talk to me about Nebraska."

That first question from Nebraska to Watts was a doozy. Many had wondered if Watts was firm and that apparently even the Husker staff.

"I told him that I had researched everything and that I was done. I am solid with my commitment to Nebraska."

Watts likes the fit at NU from the coaching staff to the defense to the depth chart. There is an opportunity to play for a coach that is a Nebraska legacy and former NFL defensive lineman and there is a chance to step into Lincoln and potentiallyplay right away.

"I really like Coach Parrella," Watts said. "I like his experience of being a player at Nebraska, as well as his NFL experience. I think that he can really develop me as a player.

"He's told me that there is a chance for early playing time at Nebraska. I am comfortable playing either at the one or the three. We haven't really talked about where they see me."

Watts says that he has just been working out staying in shape and trying to get stronger. He would like to make it up to the Nebraska spring game after he signs with the Huskers in February.

"I don't know what the date is for their spring game, but I know that I would be interested in getting up there for it."
