WATCH: Video shows Tua Tagovailoa’s jiu-jitsu training is already paying off

Over the course of the 2022 NFL season, Miami Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa suffered numerous concussions that worried NFL fans, analysts and players across the country.

Head injuries have long been a problem in the league and there’s growing concern over the lasting effects it will have on players. While the league has taken steps to minimize the chances of such injuries like new helmets, amending the rules and establishing a concussion protocol, Tagovailoa took a different approach.

This offseason, the former Alabama Crimson Tide standout quarterback trained in Jiu-Jitsu. In doing so, he learned how to use his body to fall more effectively. Not just protecting his head, but his limbs and joints too.

A video shared to X, formerly known as Twitter, by Nick Hicks, who is the co-owner and Director of Performance for ‘Per4orm,’ demonstrates the moves Tagovailoa had trained and then is immediately followed up by showing him using the various techniques.

It’s interesting to see how this training has already been paying off. With many vocal media members questioning Tagovailoa’s health and availability, it’s odd to see that they are silent on this.

Roll Tide Wire will continue to follow Tua Tagovailoa and other former Alabama players as the 2023 NFL season gets started.
