WATCH: Jameis Winston reacts to Taysom Hill’s critical touchdown pass

Nobody enjoyed a more productive Sunday than Taysom Hill, and no one was happier for him than his teammate Jameis Winston. The New Orleans Saints’ starting quarterback was inactive in this game due to back and ankle injuries, but Winston was one of the first to greet Hill upon his return to the sideline after lobbing a 22-yard touchdown pass to tight end Adam Trautman. It’s great to see how engaged he was despite his injuries, just like their mentor Drew Brees was before when Winston and Hill took turns filling in for him.

Each player’s future is uncertain — not just Winston and Hill, but backup quarterback Andy Dalton, who took the lion’s share of snaps under center against the Seattle Seahawks. The Saints are being patient in Winston’s recovery from a variety of different injuries, but they may have found a winning formula in the Dalton-Hill combo. Then again, they won’t face last-ranked defenses like Seattle every week. The good news is that working Winston back into the lineup is a problem for another day. For now, they’re all just happy to be 2-3.
