Watch: Ja Morant gifts LSU basketball team exclusive pairs of Ja 1s

Ja Morant has gifted several college programs to which he has ties Ja 1 sneakers in the past six months. The LSU men's basketball team recently got a special delivery from the Memphis Grizzlies star that included an exclusive team-themed colorway of the Ja 1.

LSU basketball coach Matt McMahon made the announcement in front of his team.

"Ja was kind enough to partner up with Nike and design some special Ja 1s for LSU," McMahon said.

The player-exclusive Ja 1 sneakers are white, gold and purple with a LSU symbol placed below the Nike sign. LSU joins Duke as the first schools to knowingly have PE Ja 1s with the team themed colorway. Duke guard Tyrese Proctor showcased his team's version on Dec. 31.

McMahon was Morant's college head coach during the Grizzlies star's two seasons at Murray State. McMahon left Murray State to take the LSU job in March of 2022. Morant and McMahon still keep in contact. Morant visited LSU and McMahon last season.

Other Nike schools with ties to Morant have previously been gifted Ja 1s. Murray State and Radford's basketball programs received the "Ember Glow" Ja 1s. The University of Memphis volleyball team was gifted the same sneaker.

Mississippi Valley State, where Morant's younger sister Teniya plays basketball, received the "Zombie" Ja 1s weeks before the public release in October.

LSU is in an exclusive company with Duke, having their own colorways.
