There was a lot of hype and anticipation surrounding the Rams-Lions showdown in the wild-card round, a matchup between Matthew Stafford and Jared Goff – two quarterbacks who were traded for each other three years ago. With two high-powered offenses and a couple of defenses that have struggled against the pass, it was expected to be a shootout, and that’s exactly what we got.
There were 38 total points scored in the first half as these teams traded touchdowns and field goals until we finally got a punt late in the second quarter. The scoring slowed in the second half, with only nine points being scored in the final 30 minutes, but it was still a thrilling finish that came down to the end.
The Lions ultimately left Ford Field with a 24-23 victory, their first playoff win in 32 years. The Rams, on the other hand, head home with a disappointing loss that ends their season in the wild-card round.
