WATCH: Chiefs TE Travis Kelce returned to Saturday Night Live in opening sketch cameo

The Kansas City Chiefs are off this Sunday after defeating the Denver Broncos on Thursday Night Football at Arrowhead Stadium, opening up free time for players before next week’s game. All-Pro tight end Travis Kelce wouldn’t let a sprained ankle keep him out of that game or change his plans for this weekend.

The Chiefs’ leading receiver is spending the weekend in New York City with his good friend Taylor Swift as the pair made a surprise appearance on the season premiere of Saturday Night Live. Kelce popped up at the end of the show’s opening sketch that parodied the NFL on FOX pre-game show discussing his relationship status with Swift instead of football. Swift appeared later in the night, introducing musical guest Ice Spice’s second performance of the show.

Kelce hosted the show earlier this year with his brother Jason and teammate Creed Humphrey, featured in sketches. He hasn’t missed a beat on drawing big laughs, even with his brief cameo. The Philadelphia Eagles will be at MetLife Stadium on Sunday for a matchup with the New York Jets, so sticking around with Taylor to support his older brother wouldn’t be surprising.
