WATCH: Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes puts on a show at Big Slick celebrity softball game

The annual Big Slick Kansas City event is hosted by celebrities Eric Stonestreet, Paul Rudd, Jason Sudeikis, Heidi Gardner, Rob Riggle, and David Koechner. Each year they hold festivities throughout the weekend benefiting Children’s Mercy Hospital.

The Kansas City Chiefs have traditionally contributed to the weekend with special prizes and giveaways, but this year featured players in the celebrity softball game at Kauffman Stadium. Patrick Mahomes and Creed Humphrey participated in the match, along with former Chiefs punter and regular event contributor Dustin Colquitt.

The reigning NFL Most Valuable Player picked up from his last appearance in 2020 with another softball game home run.

Mahomes hit an inside-the-park home run, much to the delight of the supportive crowd. But that wasn’t the only impressive play from the reigning league MVP. He also threw out Eric Stonestreet with a behind-the-back toss while playing shortstop. Next time, he says it’s coming to an NFL game.

Mahomes also got an opportunity to pitch, replacing former Royals pitcher Jeremy Guthrie in a relief effort.

The result of the game ultimately doesn’t matter, as the focus is squarely on raising money and continuing to support the Kansas City community. Still, it’s quite amusing to catch a glimpse at Mahomes’ skills on the softball field.
