Warriors rookie Brandin Podziemski starting vs. Kings in preseason

In their third preseason contest of the 2023 campaign, the Golden State Warriors will be without both Chris Paul and Stephen Curry on Sunday night against the Sacramento Kings. With Paul and Curry getting a veteran rest day against the Kings, two spots in Steve Kerr’s starting lineup will be open on Sunday evening.

After a pair of solid preseason games against the Lakers, rookie Brandin Podziemski will get the start at guard against the Kings.

In his preseason debut, the 2023 first-round pick scored 11 points on 5-of-11 shooting from the field to go along with six rebounds, four assists, a block and a steal in 26 minutes off the bench. Podziemski led the Warriors in playing time in the preseason opener against the Lakers.

Podziemski followed with a double-double effort in a rematch against the Lakers on Friday night. The former Santa Clara product tallied 20 points on 4-of-8 shooting from with 10 assists and six boards in 26 minutes.

Jonathan Kuminga will also enter the starting lineup after scoring 24 or more points in back-to-back games. The Warriors will tip off against the Kings on Sunday evening at 6:30 p.m. PT.
