Warriors CEO says no Golden State player will ever wear Kevin Durant's No. 35 jersey again
No player will ever wear No. 35 for the Golden State Warriors again.
On Monday, a day after Kevin Durant decided to sign a free agent contract with the Brooklyn Nets, Warriors CEO Joe Lacob released a statement thanking Durant for his contributions to the organization. In the statement, Lacob said that the No. 35 will never be worn by another player as long as he is in charge of the team.

In his statement, Lacob said Durant “carried himself with class and dignity on and off the court” while helping the Warriors win two NBA titles in his three-year tenure with the franchise. Durant was Finals MVP in both of those championship seasons.

Durant helped the Warriors return to the Finals this year, but injured his calf during the Western Conference semifinals. He returned from injury in Game 5 of the NBA Finals against the Toronto Raptors, only to tear his Achilles tendon. The Warriors went on to lose the series in six games.
Durant then signed with the Nets when free agency opened up at 6 p.m. ET on Sunday, pairing up with Kyrie Irving.
