Boys basketball
Caleb Nixon, Kings Mountain
The Mountaineer freshman received just shy of 87% of votes. Nixon averaged 11.5 points and seven rebounds per game during the week of Dec. 11-16 in wins over Shelby and Stuart Cramer.
Girls basketball
Monica Surratt, Crest
The Chargers’ senior standout claimed 59.3% of the vote to take top honors. She had 26 points, five rebounds and five steals in a win over Forestview prior to the holiday break.
