SL football's Gonzales, HCS volleyball's Marcel voted Barker Honda Athletes of the Week

The votes have been counted, and this week's Barker Honda Athlete of the Week poll has closed. This week's winners, as voted on the fans, are South Lafourche football player Cesar Gonzales and Houma Christian volleyball player Reese Marcel.

Gonzales, a senior, was a perfect 6-for-6 on extra point attempts against A.J. Ellender. He also made a tackle on kickoff coverage and even rushed for a two-point conversion on a trick play. He received 62.2% of the vote, defeating Terrebonne cross country runner Alex Williams, who claimed the runner-up spot, and South Terrebonne running back Jaray Ricks, who finished third.

Marcel, a freshman, led the Warriors to back-to-back wins to close the regular season, good to clinch a spot in the LHSAA playoffs. She received 43.4% of the vote, good to defeat two cross country runners, Payton Theriot of H.L. Bourgeois and Cele Guerrero of Terrebonne, who respectively claimed second and third.
