Union City, Harbor Creek students win Erie County high school Athlete of the Week polls

Two Union City student-athletes and a Harbor Creek soccer player were the top vote-getters in this week's Erie Times-News Athlete of the Week polls. The polls are sponsored by Seaway Window and AHN.

Union City golfer Ava Tomcho earned the Female Athlete of the Week honor with 99 votes. Girard soccer player Peyton Koma was the runner-up with 79 votes.

Harbor Creek goalie Ryan Humphreys (104 votes) won the Male Athlete of the Week voting, with Cathedral Prep soccer player Cameron Dunbar (89 votes) taking second.

Union City quarterback and safety Austin Sherwood won the honors in football with 158 votes, which beat out Fairview's Tyler Benford who took second with 107 votes.

The nominees were based on their results from the previous week. The polls are posted on GoErie.com/sports from Monday at 5 p.m. through Wednesday at 5 p.m.

Readers can nominate an athlete for the polls by sending an email to sports@timesnews.com with “Athlete of the Week nominee” in the subject line. Please include the athlete’s school, sport, year in school and specifics of why they’re being nominated. Although we don’t promise all nominees will be used, we will consider them.
