Vote for the Victorville Chevrolet High School Athlete of the Week

Nine athletes from across the High Desert are in the running for the Victorville Chevrolet High School Athlete of the Week.

Daily Press readers can vote for their favorite high school athletes at the newspaper's website.

The poll closes on Wednesday night.

Here are the choices for the week, based on performances from April 15 to 20.

  • Bethany Morrison, Apple Valley softball — Bethany powered the way to two victories for the Sun Devils last week. In an 8-3 victory over Serrano on April 17, Bethany went 2 for 4 with a home run, four RBIs, two runs and a stolen base. Bethany followed that by going 3 for 5 with a home run, three RBIs, four runs and two stolen bases as Apple Valley beat Hesperia 20-2 on April 19.

  • Brayden Booth, Sultana baseball — Brayden tallied six hits in two victories over Hesperia last week. In a 10-4 victory on April 17, Brayden went 4 for 4 with two RBIs. Brayden went 2 for 4 with four RBIs and a run in a 13-5 victory on April 19.

  • Cayden Johnson, Riverside Prep baseball — Cayden helped lead the Silver Knights to two victories over Hesperia Christian last week. Cayden picked up the win on the mound, as he allowed four hits and struck out six batters over six innings in a 4-0 victory on April 17. Cayden helped lead the offense in a 24-2 victory two days later by going 3 for 5 with three RBIs and two runs.

  • Ce’onie Turner, Adelanto softball — Ce’onie hit home runs to help the offense as the Saints beat Victor Valley twice last week. In an 18-3 victory on April 16, Ce’onie went 2-for-4 with a home run, three RBIs and four runs. She followed that by going 3 for 5 with a home run, a triple, five RBIs and two runs and a stolen base in a 16-10 victory on April 18.

  • Dani Jackman, University Prep softball — Dani etched her name into the CIF-Southern Section record book after hitting the 61st home run of her career in a 7-4 victory over Canyon Springs on April 16. She hit another one and ended with five RBIs. The following day, Dani went 4 for 4 with a home run, two doubles, a walk, three RBIs and a run in an 11-1 victory over Excelsior. On April 19, Dani went 1 for 3 with two walks, two RBIs and a stolen base in a 12-2 victory over Excelsior.

  • Haylee Stanislawski , Silverado softball — Haylee helped the Hawks pull off two victories over Barstow last week. In a 12-11 victory on April 16, Haylee went 5 for 5 with a RBI and three runs. In an 11-10 victory two days later, Haylee hit a home run in her only official plate appearance and also drew two walks with three RBIs and three runs.

  • Jacob Webster, Oak Hills baseball — Jacob collected two hits in all three of Oak Hills’ victories last week. He began the week by going 2 for 3 with a run and a stolen base in a 2-0 victory over Sultana on April 15. Jacob followed that up with going 2 for 4 with a stolen base as Oak Hills beat Serrano 3-0 on April 17. Jacob ended the week by going 2 for 3 with a RBI in an 11-2 victory over Serrano on April 19.

  • Phoenix Matsumoto, Apple Valley baseball — Phoenix had a helping hand in two victories over Burroughs for the Sun Devils last week. In a 5-1 victory on April 17, Phoenix went 1-for-2 with one RBI and a run. Two days later, Phoenix led the offense for Apple Valley by going 3 for 4 with a home run, two RBIs and a run in a 4-2 victory.

  • Savannah Vanderpool, Sultana softball — Savannah had a big day in the circle for the Sultans in a must-win game against Oak Hills on April 17. Savannah struck out five batters and allowed four runs on eight hits over seven innings to avenge a loss to Oak Hills earlier in the season. On April 19, Savannah led Sultana to a 10-0 victory over Serrano. She struck out 14 batters and allowed four hits over six innings, and at the plate went 2 for 4 with three RBIs and a run.

Nominations must be received for consideration by Sunday morning following that week's games. Anyone can nominate an Athlete of the Week for every varsity sport.
