Vote for Statesman Journal Athlete of the Week
The fall sports season is underway, and there are many Mid-Valley athletes already doing impressive things.
This week’s Statesman Journal Athlete of the Week nominees are:
Nelida Dalgas, North Salem cross country
Athan Palmateer, South Salem football
Kate Endler, West Salem girls soccer
William Walker, Dallas football
Vote for the athlete you think is most deserving at bit.ly/44UH36g. The poll closes at noon Thursday.
Nelida Dalgas, North Salem cross country: She ran a 17:47.8 on Sept. 9 at the Ash Creek XC Festival, which was a personal record and the top girls time in the state this season at 6A.
Athan Palmateer, South Salem football: He threw six touchdown passes, including the game-winner, in the Saxons’ 45-44 win against Sunset.
Kate Endler, West Salem girls soccer: As of the first three matches, she had played every minute of every match. Titans coach Hillary Arthur said Endler wins most if not all one-on-ones, breaks up attack from opponents and is able to clear the ball from the back line as well as build the attack from the defensive third.
William Walker, Dallas football: He had five sacks and eight total tackles in the Dragons’ 36-18 victory against McKay.
